Human face of the Indian Armed Forces

- Col. Ranjit Singh

Abstract

In Jammu and Kashmir and in the North East, the Indian Armed Forces have extended its mandate to rebuild the lives of people devastated by terrorism. Operation Sadbhavana, meaning Goodwill, launched in 1998, is a unique attempt to apply the healing touch to win the hearts and minds of people by promoting development activities focusing on their basic needs. The humanitarian assistance, civic action and development programmes of the Indian Armed Forces have certainly been a successful effort. Although, it adds to the responsibilities of the Armed Forces it has increased the image of human face of the Indian Armed Forces the world over.
